Sandy Larson is a life long dance and yoga student which led to dancing professionally and teaching. She first discovered yoga from her mother finding its' value in self care, body conditioning and injury prevention for dance. After reading "Autobiography of a Yogi" she began the Self Realization Lessons, the science of meditation and spiritual living, developed by Paramahansa Yogananda, followed by her initiation into Kriya Yoga. She has trained, practiced and taught vinyasa and Ashtanga from fitness based to therapeutic, chair and assisted living and restorative practices beginning in 2003. Her study has transformed into deeper healing modalities of SOS Meridian Yoga, Extreme Yin Yoga and as a SOS Meridian Yoga Technique Practitioner.
She also has certifications in Pilates and reiki and is expanding into healing through dietary and sound tools. She has a special place in her heart to encourage inclusivity and to support the very young, the very "young at heart" and absolute beginners, sharing that yoga and dance are for everyone. She is the team leader for the Knoxville Shimmy Mob, part of a global team, which shares her passion to spread awareness and support victims of abuse and looks forward to NADA certification to help these victims.
Fun fact: Locally, she is known for "heartfinds” when she began posting heart shapes found in nature and in everyday life with the encouragement to "see the love all around you", "see the love inside you” and “you are loved". This started a movement with folks sharing love by sending in their "heartfinds" they see through their day. Thank you Rose Erin Vaughan for teaching us to always return to the heart.
